“To will is to select a goal, determine a course of action that will bring one to that goal, and then hold to that action till the goal is reached.

The key to reaching your goals is ACTION, Not for just one day, for one week, or for one month, but as long as it takes to reach your goals.

Just because you are on a diet does not mean you can not eat dessert. There are so many good desserts that do not sabotage your diets. My favorites are Skinny Cow ice cream sandwhiches. Although these ice cream sandwhiches are a little high in sugar, they are only 140 calories a piece, only contain 1.5 g of fat, 3 g of fiber and 3 g of protien, and only 2 weight watchers points!

Ok, ready for a contest within the contest! One of the contestants, Jen G., told me about a really cool website http://www.hungry-girl.com/ on the Internet. When you get a moment, check out the site. Heath, Patrick, and Joe don't let the name fool you. There are great tips and facts for guys too! The first five people to post a comment with an interesting fact learned on this site, win a prize.

  1. From the website
"Ooooh, is Diet Coke in hot water? Seems like it. The FDA issued a warning letter objecting to the name and label of Diet Coke Plus, which describes the soda as "Diet Coke with Vitamins & Minerals." Apparently, food or beverages called "Plus" need to contain at least 10% more nutrients than similar products. We say you shouldn't be looking to diet sodas to get your vitamins. Pop a multi and sip a Coke Zero, instead -- it tastes better, too. "

  2. Some of the TOP ATE Calorie Saving Cooking Swaps! (very clever)
Unknowingly, the following were incorporated into my new obsession.
#5: No-sugar added applesauce instead of butter
#7: Splenda No calorie Sweetener (granular) instead of sugar

So my new obsession is homemade applesauce, made with splenda (use of #7). I"ve used the applesauce on top of Kashi waffles for breakfast (use of #5). DELICIOUS! I may need an intervention :) have a great day.

  3. Rethink your resolutions.

One of the main reasons resolutions fall short is because they aren't reasonable. If you're determined to lose 30 pounds by the end of January, you're setting yourself up for failure. If you've never exercised before noon in your life, yet you've made up your mind to hit the 6am cycling class five times a week, you
won't do it. Adjust your goals and make them REALISTIC.

I hope everyone's goals are realistic so we succeed!

  4. I had no idea you could post on here! I found this interesting tid bit out about low carb dieting. So don't banish carbs all together..

Do Low-Carb Diets Hurt Your Brain?!

A recent study out of Tufts University has found that diets low in carbs could actually impair your memory. The study looked at two groups -- one on a practically carb-free diet and the other on a balanced low-calorie diet. The low-carb group performed worse on tests measuring memory-related skills. Researchers explain that since the brain runs primarily on glucose (which comes from carbs), low-carb diets can affect your ability to learn and remember things. And while the low-carb dieters did rank higher when it came to attention skills and task-oriented tests, experts chalk that up to the fact that they had more protein and fat in their diets. The low-carb group members showed improvement about a week after adding carbs back to their plates. Sooooo, what have we learned here? EAT A WELL-BALANCED DIET!

  8. According to exercise physiologists, people WILDLY overestimate how many calories they burn during exercise. Many people don't pay attention to the information that's often provided on the machines in front of them at the gym. You must input your weight to get the accurate amount of calories burned -- and to be fair, you really should subtract the number of calories you'd burn doing nothing for that same period of time (about 50 - 100 calories per hour, depending on your weight and other factors).

I hope my heart rate monitor is accurate!

  12. I love skinny cows!! Another great website (especially for you fellow weight watcher followers) is www.DWLZ.com It lists points (and calories/fats/etc) for alot of restaurants (click the restaurant tab on top). Makes going out to eat a little easier. Did you know a blooming onion from Outback has 2,310cal and 134g fat?? gross, that makes me never want to have a bite of one again :o)
